Frequently Asked Questions
Felt Board
The device will not save photos from Felt Board to my photo library. What happened?
Felt Board must ask permission to access your photo library. Sometimes users close the box or do not give access to the app when it is first launched. If you press the camera icon and no picture is sent to your photo library, you will need to go into device settings and give permission. Go to settings icon / privacy / photos / felt board and turn the switch on.
Where does the picture go when I click on the camera in Felt Board?
Pictures are saved in your device’s photo library and should appear in photo stream if it is enabled.
Can I print pictures from Felt Board?
The best way to print a picture from Felt Board is to send it to the photo library (by clicking on the camera icon) and print the way you would print a photo from your iPad. If you use photo stream to send pictures to your computer, then you can print directly from iPhoto.
Pictures you make in the app can be printed and used for personal or educational (classroom) purposes with no permission required. We ask that if you demo the app or use the app in presentations or video creation that you please provide credit as “Felt Board app by Software Smoothie”.
Felt Board – Mother Goose on the Loose
What is the button with the parent and child for? Why do I have to press and hold the button?
The top right icon (parent and child) gives access to the parent / caregiver section of the app. It provides information from the app developers and from the founder of the Mother Goose on the Loose early literacy program. The press and hold button prevents young children from exiting the play area of the app and hides links that could take the child to a website outside of the app.
Why did the sound stop when we rotated two objects at the same time?
Felt items in the Felt Board – Mother Goose on the Loose app can be rotated with two fingers. If you are rotating two items at the same time and notice that the sound stops playing or the app closes, this is because the movement is similar to a four-fingered gesture used to close the app in iOS7. This should not happen often, but if it does you can choose to turn off Multitasking Gestures in Settings / General / Multitasking Gestures.
What do I do when I’m done using a felt piece I have selected?
You can put away felt pieces you are finished with by dragging them back to the wooden selection tray where it came from. The tray must be opened in order to put a piece back.
Photo Buttons
How do I make my own buttons?
Press and hold the settings icon in the top left corner until it opens in order to access the settings and custom button tab. Select Custom Buttons and tap the plus sign. The first time you will be asked to allow the app to access the microphone. You will need to say yes in order to record sound. Select the button color, select or take a photo, record a sound and remember to save. Depending on your device orientation, you may need to scroll down to see the save button.
Is there a way to disable the buttons that came with the app so I only see my own buttons?
Yes. Select “standard buttons” from within the settings mode. You can check or un-check each button to turn them on and off.
How do I change the backgrounds?
Background choices are available on the home screen. Scroll and select a background and tap the arrow to begin.
